You have probably heard about it, it’s a hit series on Hulu. It started as a book by Margaret Atwell and as an avid reader, with all of the buzz about the show I had to go back and read the book. Written in 1985 the story seems quite farfetched with it’s tale of Gilead, formerly a part of the US that has turned into a totalitarian society in which women are property and many men have it no better.
The story is dark and haunting. Sadly enough it does not seem as farfetched as it might have not that long ago, that thought is actually quite scary and as season 1 of the series ends with the book, fans of the show are now enjoying season 2 which as led to new unchartered territory and season 3 is coming.
You will be riveted by the red dresses and cloaks and of course the bonnets with the wings. Simple yet every carefully selected detail speaks volumes. Do you imagine what your role would be? Do you wonder what you would do in their situations? Are you waiting to see what will happen next? If you’re like me sometimes you’ll find yourself watching and don’t want to see it but can’t turn away.
